I Stopped Using 6 Apps. This Free Android App Does Everything.

How one tool replaced my summarizer, scanner, YouTube notes, PDF manager, and homework helper, and every feature is still free.

There's a particular kind of productivity trap nobody talks about: the tab avalanche.

You're doing research. You paste an article into a summarizer tab. You screenshot a whiteboard from your last meeting and open a separate OCR app. You find a YouTube lecture, another tab, another tool. By the time you've extracted the text, converted the PDF, and exported your notes, you've spent more time managing tools than doing actual thinking.

I fell into this trap for years. Six apps. Six logins (or six "free trials" that weren't really free). Then I built Briefix, and started using it every day myself.

What Briefix actually is

Briefix is a free all-in-one AI productivity app for Android. Summarize articles, explain difficult topics, solve homework step-by-step, scan documents with OCR, merge PDFs, scan QR codes, rewrite text, analyze writing tone, and listen with text-to-speech, all in one clean workflow.

The six apps it replaced

1. Your AI summarizer

Paste any long article, lecture notes, or research snippet. Briefix condenses it into clear text you can actually use. Pick short, medium, or long depending on whether you need a quick skim or something more detailed. What used to take 20 minutes now takes 2.

2. Your OCR scanner

Point your camera at a whiteboard, textbook page, or slide deck. Briefix pulls editable text out. No retyping. The scan flow shows a clear Ready state so you're never guessing whether the import worked.

3. Your YouTube notes tool

When a video has captions, Briefix extracts key points before you press play. A 45-minute lecture becomes a page of skimmable notes. Brilliant for students and professionals drowning in video content.

4. Your PDF manager

Merge receipts. Split a large download. Convert PDF pages to images or images back to PDF. Convert video frames to PDF with link support. All next to the summarizer, with no uploading to sketchy websites.

5. Your homework helper

Scan or paste homework questions and get step-by-step solutions with teacher-style explanations. Solve multiple questions at once, save solutions as PDF, and learn in 24+ languages. This alone replaced two paid tutoring apps for me.

6. Your text-to-speech reader

Once you have a summary or scanned text, listen to it on your commute. Adjustable voice, speed, and pitch with word-by-word highlighting. Briefix becomes a reading companion, not just a utility.

The detail that wins my trust

Privacy-conscious design isn't common in free apps. Briefix keeps History on-device by default. Online features only send what that single action requires. Nothing more. That's the kind of decision that signals a developer who actually thought about users.

Who this is for

  • Students: lecture notes, textbook scans, YouTube tutorials, homework help, PDF handouts
  • Professionals: meeting whiteboards, long reports, research papers without five different services
  • Writers & creators: AI rewrite, humanizer, and text energy analysis for emails, captions, and posts
  • Everyday readers: too much content, not enough time; get the signal without sitting through the noise

The honest part

Briefix is on Android via Google Play right now. iOS and a fuller browser experience are in development. You can already try the free AI summarizer on this website with no sign-up needed.

Try it

Search Briefix on Google Play. Summaries, scanning, homework solver, YouTube, PDFs, OCR, QR scanner, rewrite tools, TTS: all free. No credit card. No trial period. No upgrade to unlock.

Read less. Understand more. Create faster with Briefix.
